Okay, so unfortunately Toyota & Lexus didn’t actually see fit to launch a Wagon version (or Sportcross as they like to call it) of the Mark 2 IS sedan, which is a pity, however, ther have been several speculative renderings on the net as to what such a car may look like, and below we have one of the better ones to give us a flavor of what it may have been like.

Hopefully we may see a wagon version of the Mk3 Lexus IS, if the bean counters at Toyota think it stacks up financially.

Lexus had great success with the original IS series of cars, and produced a very credible alternative to the BMW 3 series by making a compact rear drive executive car that had enjoyable handling and great reliability. As with several of the Japanese brands, the car was re branded according to its destination marketplace, and in some markets such as Japan, the car was sold as the Toyota Altezza.

It took some time after launch before Lexus decided that it needed a station-wagon version, but eventually one was produced, it was very much in the lifestyle mould and did not have a huge boot, but was still an entertaining drive all the same. It featured just the one engine and sales in Europe suffered as a diesel option was not offered.
